Baghban Screenwriter Shafeeq Ansari Passes Away At 84 Due To Prolonged Illness
Veteran screenwriter Shafeeq Ansari, popularly known for writing the screenplay of Amitabh Bachchan's 'Baghban' is no more. The veteran writer breathed his last on Wednesday morning at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Shafeeq Ansari was 84 years old at the time of his passing.

The news of his death was confirmed by his son Mohsin Ansari. According to a report in ANI, Mohsin revealed that his father was suffering from a prolonged illness. The veteran writer's last rites are going to be performed later today at the Oshiwara Kabristan.

Talking about his journey, he started his career as a writer in 1997 with Dharmendra and Shatrughan Sinha's Dost. He then penned Dharmendra and Hema Malini starrer Dil Ka Heera. The veteran writer also penned late actor Dilip Kumar, Govinda and Madhuri Dixit starrer Izzatdar. Followed by Pyaar Hua Chori Chori which had actor Mithun and southern actress Gouthami. His work was appreciated by the masses. He later joined hands with veteran filmmaker B.R Chopra and was credited as one of the dialogues and screenplay writers of 'Baghban'. The movie starring Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Salman Khan and Mahima Chaudhary was a hit. Baghban was directed by Ravi Chopra. The powerful emotional drama 'Baghban' is considered to be one of the most heart-touching movies of Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini delivered spectacular performances as Raj and Pooja Malhotra respectively. Salman Khan essayed the role of Alok in the film.

Shafeeq Ansari is now survived by his son and daughter.
